Recipe Chicken wurger

3 wurgers

Cooking time: approx. 45 minutes


For the chicken thighs: 

  • 3 chicken thighs
  • 1 bag of Doritos paprika chips
  • 6 tbsp flour
  • 1 egg

For the waffle batter: 

  • 190 g flour
  • 1 egg
  • 190 ml milk
  • 100g grated cheddar cheese
  • 3 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Chicken seasoning mix (optional)
  • Oil or butter for greasing
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 small bag of rocket
  • 3 tbsp tomato ketchup




Chicken & toppings

  1. Thinly slice the tomatoes and avocado. Set these aside for a while along with the rocket.
  2. Spread a layer of cling film on the countertop and place the chicken thighs on it. Beat the chicken thighs with a meat mallet till they become much thinner. Season with salt and pepper or with the chicken seasoning mix.
  3. Crumble the Doritos using the DOMO Maxi-chopper and place the crumbs in a bowl.
  4. Put the flour and 1 beaten egg in two separate bowls. 
  5. Coat the chicken thighs first with the flour, then with the egg and finally with the Dorito crumbs. 
  6. Repeat for the remaining chicken thighs. 
  7. Meanwhile, switch on the DOMO Wafflelicious to heat it. 


  1. Using a whisk, mix the flour, salt, pepper and baking powder in a large bowl. 
  2. Add the egg, milk and sunflower oil to this. Mix it all with a whisk to form a smooth batter. Finally, spoon in the cheddar cheese.
  3. If the green light on the waffle iron has come on by now, you can start frying the waffles/rolls. 
  4. Pour 1/6 of the batter onto each plate and allow it to fry for 3 to 4 minutes.
  5. Fry the chicken until done on a contact grill (approx. 15 min) or in a pan with some oil. 

To make a chicken wurger, place a waffle on a plate. Top it with some rocket, tomatoes, a fried chicken thigh and avocado slices. Spread some more ketchup on top and cover with a second waffle to form the wurger.
