Recipe Sweet baked apple dumplings with cinnamon

Sweet baked apple dumplings with cinnamon

Preparation time: +/- 30 min.

Appliance: DOMO Oven

Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet apples (e.g., Jonagold or Elstar)
  • 1 sheet of ready-rolled puff pastry
  • 4 tbsp light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 small cubes of butter (approx. 1 tsp each)
  • 1 egg (for brushing)
  • Optional: raisins or chopped nuts

Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (fan 180°C).
  2. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  3. Peel the apples and remove the cores using an apple corer, keeping the apples whole.
  4. Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  5. Place a small cube of butter inside each apple.
  6. Fill the core with the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Add raisins or nuts for extra flavour, if desired.
  7. Cut the puff pastry into four equal squares.
  8. Place an apple in the centre of each square.
  9. Fold the corners of the pastry up and pinch them together at the top to fully enclose the apple.
  10. Beat the egg and brush it over the pastry for a golden finish.
  11. Optionally, sprinkle with some extra cinnamon sugar.
  12. Bake the apples in the oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and crisp.
  13. Let the apples cool for 5 minutes before serving. Delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream!

Tip: Use cinnamon sticks as a festive garnish. No brown sugar? Swap it for white sugar with a drizzle of honey.

Enjoy!
