Ingredients
For the waffles:
- 130 g spelt flour
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cane sugar
- 320 ml milk
- 2 eggs
- 120 ml sunflower oil
For the topping:
- 4 hamburgers
- 4 slices of Cheddar cheese
- 1 large red onion
- 1 handful of mixed lettuce
- A couple of sun-dried tomatoes
Preparation
- Mix all dry ingredients.
- Add the milk and sunflower oil to another bowl with 2 egg yolks. Mix until smooth.
- Add half of the mixture to the dry mass and mix.
- Next, add the remaining liquid and whisk into a smooth mass.
- Whisk 2 egg whites until stiff and add to the mixture.
- Add the batter to the waffle iron and bake the waffles until golden brown.
- Fry the hamburgers in a pan with some butter until done. For the final minute, top the hamburgers with a slice of cheddar each until the cheese melts.
- Use a small saucepan to fry the onion rings.
- Use one waffle as the bottom of your burger. Place some lettuce on top. Top with the hamburger with melted cheese and finish with some onion and sun-dried tomatoes. Close the burger with a second waffle and use a skewer to keep everything in place.
